A number of lesbian women have contacted Sangama in situations of crisis, and several of them expressed the need for a support system for lesbian/bisexual women in the city and in the state. Such efforts, they felt, would help them reach out to other women and to enhance the visibility of lesbian/bisexual women – given their limited access to public spaces, the particular difficulties they experience within the family, and the constant pressure to marry – which are distinct from those of homosexual/bisexual men.

Weekly community meetings are common spaces for the community to share their feelings, joys, sorrows, experiences etc. We extend moral, social, political and emotional support to the community who are oppressed or discriminated in their family, society, educational institution, work place, etc. due to their sexual preference.

For more information about the LesBiT support groups, please call 080-22861071 or email at lesbit.lbwp@gmail.com. The service is open for all women who love other women/ are attracted to other women, female to male transgenders or confused about their gender identity/ sexuality.
